3) Many Curates don’t agree with their Bishops but ‘bite the bullet’ and get on with it. Why is Richard being fussy?
It might well be that the clergy of the Church of England sometimes aren’t fussy enough! At other times, though, whilst a disagreement may be heartfelt, both parties will agree it is over matters on which Christians may clearly take different views without diverging on fundamentals of belief.
On the matter of sexual ethics, however, the Anglican Church both nationally and internationally has repeatedly disagreed with the position advocated by ‘Changing Attitude’, on the grounds that it would involve people in sinful behaviour that would threaten their salvation. This is an issue so grave that it has already led to a break in fellowship at Holy Communion amongst the leaders of the Anglican Communion at conferences of the Primates.
